This weekend, the Garden of Dreams, Thamel will be decked out in a fun fashion for the KTM Family Fair. A daytime event that will take place on January 21, the fair is aimed particularly at children and families. It will have its own children’s play area, activity tents, food stalls, catwalk area—from which a children’s catwalk show will take place, as well as a lottery. Profits from the lottery will go on to supporting the BalMandir orphanage.

Shirley Bredal—a producer and exporter of handiwork that employs around a hundred Nepali women—is behind this event. While the children will have the time of their lives savouring the many games, stalls and activities, the adults can also  indulge in the great atmosphere with good music, as well as a food festival.

In the evening, Hem Lama and his band will begin their performance. During the day, the stage will be kept lively by magic shows and B-Boying performances.

Activities for children also include:

A creative workshop where children will be able to engage in making  hats and masks and creating play dough figures.

An obstacle course that tests balance and speed in KTM Family Fair’s obstacle course. Siblings can challenge each other and see who gets the best time.

A story-telling corner that will feature Bal Mandir’s talented story teller.

Jumping castles, merry-go around, facepainting, sack race, helium balloons, cupcake decorating, bingo and musical chair games will be arranged in corners of the garden.

There will also be a raffle all proceeds from which will go to the orphanage.
